Why feed Blue Rider Blend?

Because it’s specifically designed to address the dietary needs of Oregon horses on our hay and in our environment. It's milled locally in Harrisburg, it’s less expensive, and horses love the taste. It was created 20 years ago in partnership a large animal veterinarian before low carb grains were commercially available.  Blue Rider Blend is over 97% of three ingredients- Alfalfa, Rice Bran, and Beet Pulp. The remaining 2.5% contains minerals and vitamins your horse needs, like selenium and vitamin E, and biotin for healthy hooves. Most other feeds contain molasses, soy, and wheat to add taste and bulk to their grain. Blue Rider Blend helps put on weight and add energy without making horses “hot,” and soaks well if needed. When fed with a good forage like orchard grass and an addition of selenium, it is an excellent feed for horses in the Pacific Northwest.

Here's what loyal customers of BRB have to say:

"Blue Rider Blend really helped solve my four horses' assorted feed requirements. Two cannot have soy. The other two have metabolic issues and cannot have feed containing molasses. None should have oats or barley. And all need an excellent comprehensive vitamin/mineral mix because available forage these days isn't always fully "tested" -- and many commercial vitamin/mineral supplements often contain my horses' "no-nos." Blue Rider Blend was the PERFECT solution for my small herd of rehomed rescued geriatric equines."-Roxanne B.

“No wheat, no soy, no corn, no molasses or sugar and no mystery by-products. I’ve been using it for over ten years, and all of my horses have done well on it and all have liked the taste.”- Hydie

“I feed Blue Rider Blend to my adult Sporthorses. It is important to feed a fiber-based feed- digestion and absorption is slower, more calming, and the energy is available to the horse throughout the day, rather than in a quick rush which can come with a cereal grain-based feed. I also love that Blue Rider Blend contains selenium and copper – both of which play important roles in the high-performance equine athlete and are common deficiencies in the Pacific Northwest. This feed also conveniently contains salt, lessening the need for supplementation.”-Turi S.
